'Gangs of Galicia' Will Return for a Third and Final Season

Netflix has announced the third and final season of the hit series Gangs of Galicia, produced by Vaca Films and starring Clara Lago and Tamar Novas.

Clara Lago (Spanish Affair, The Neighbour) and Tamar Novas (Band Together, The Mess You Leave Behind) lead the cast once again alongside Luis Zahera (Old Dog, New Tricks, The Beasts). Rounding out the cast for this third season are Xosé Antonio Touriñán (Cuñados), Melania Cruz (Malencolía), Miguel de Lira (Cuñados) and Chechu Salgado (The Laws of the Border), amongst others.

The new season will be directed by Ángeles Huerta and Javier Rodríguez, and the screenplay once again by Jorge Guerricaechevarría.

It’s been over a year, but Ana (Clara Lago) has moved on and lives a new life in witness protection, far from Cambados, with her mother and daughter Sara. Meanwhile Daniel (Tamar Novas) has also turned his back on the world of drug trafficking and tries to live an honest life away from his family’s business, although his big obsession is finding Ana and Sara. At the same time, the Paladín clan is going through its worst moment: an Albanian clan is trying to take over the entire drug-smuggling operation, and their methods are set to shatter the peace in Cambados. The Padíns will find themselves on the ropes, and it will be hard to prevent their business dealings from once again affecting Daniel… and Ana.

Netflix Reveals First Look and Date for Dutch Series 'The Perfect Lie'

These growing tensions form the heart of The Perfect Lie, the new Dutch Netflix drama series, written by Dorien Goertzen with Jop Esmeijer as co-writer and based on the best-selling novel The Dinner Club by Saskia Noort. Today, audiences around the world are answering that question every week: titles from APAC now make up more than half of Netflix’s weekly Global Top 10 non-English title lists, up from around 30% in 2021. Netflix Begins Production on 'Criminopatía'

Netflix has announced the start of production on Criminopatía, with Clara Tiscar, a new documentary series that adapts the universe and perspective of one of Spain’s leading voices in the analysis and storytelling of true crime.

The production, already underway, will go beyond the mystery to explore violence, justice, and human behaviour from a deep social and psychological perspective. After establishing Criminopatía as one of the biggest true crime phenomena in Spanish, with nearly 100 million accumulated listens and more than 2 million monthly plays across all platforms, Clara Tiscar leads this ambitious new audiovisual project.

With a carefully crafted visual approach and extensive research, the series will explore different true crimes from an analytical perspective, paying particular attention to the social and psychological context of both victims and perpetrators. “I’m thrilled about this new challenge and the opportunity to bring the Criminopatía universe into the documentary format alongside Netflix. Filming took place on location in Asturias and Madrid, as well as in Berlin. The action of the third season of 1670 begins shortly after the grand Royal Harvest Festival in Adamczycha. The bitter truth about Jan Paweł’s origins, revealed during the ceremony, and the loss of all noble charters in the library fire have cast over the Sarmatians the shadow of a tragedy worse than the plague. Adamczycha is gripped by “post-noble fever.” The identity crisis affects not only the heads of the noble houses, but also every member of the Adamczewski family. Zofia struggles with empty nest syndrome, and even loudly intoning the traditional Gorzkie żale lamentations cannot fill the deafening silence of the manor house. Jakub is trying to conquer Warsaw, but the big city tempts him with more than just business opportunities. Netflix unveiled the first-look images from Villaflor, the new film by acclaimed Argentine filmmaker Santiago Mitre. Produced in Argentina, the film stars Verónica Llinás as Azucena Villaflor and Peter Lanzani as “Rubio” Alfredo Astiz.

Based on true events, this political thriller blends espionage and historical drama, following two stories in 1977 that move in opposite directions. On one side, Rubio (Lanzani), a Armylieutenant, is tasked with infiltrating the Santa Cruz Church, where a group of relatives has begun organizing to demand answers about their disappeared loved ones. On the other, Azucena Villaflor (Llinás) transforms the search for her son into an act of collective resistance that challenges Argentina’s Military Dictatorship.

As Rubio gains the trust of French nun Alice Domon and later Azucena herself, the film simultaneously portrays the birth of an unprecedented form of civil resistance against state terrorism and the infiltration operation designed to destroy it.

Written by Santiago Mitre and Mariano Llinás and produced by La Unión de los Ríos (Argentina) and Maneki Films (France), the film also features an outstanding cast. Camille Cottin portrays Alice Domon, one of the French nuns involved with the Santa Cruz Group. Joining her are Soledad Villamil, Valeria Lois, Susana Pampin, Alicia Guerra, Vivian El Jaber, Azul Lombardía, Mariela Acosta, Paula Ransenberg, Juliana Muras and Muriel Santa Ana, who bring to life some of the women who stood alongside Azucena during the early days of the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo, one of the most politically significant social movements in Argentina’s history. The cast also includes Antonia Bengoechea, José Mehrez and Enrique Piñeyro, among others.

Production, which wrapped today, spanned 12 weeks across multiple locations in Buenos Aires, Avellaneda, Berazategui, Lanús, Tres de Febrero, Vicente López, San Isidro, Lomas de Zamora, and Partido de la Costa.

What if the only way to stop a royal curse was to cross into a realm of spirits? Netflix has announced that its new Korean series The East Palace will premiere worldwide on July 17 and has unveiled the date announcement poster. The series is a period drama laced with supernatural mystery, set where the royal palace meets a shadowy realm filled with restless spirits.

The East Palace brings together director Choi Jung-kyu (The Devil Judge, Children of Nobody) with writers Kwon So-ra and Seo Jea-won, who previously crafted rich, original worlds in Bulgasal: Immortal Souls and The Guest. Their collaboration signals a new and unparalleled level of immersive storytelling.

Nam Joo-hyuk (Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Start-Up, The School Nurse Files) transforms into Gu-cheon, a man with the ability to cross the border between the real world and the Realm of Gwi (the spirit realm), cutting down spirits that stray too close to the real world. Roh Yoon-seo (Crash Course in Romance, 20th Century Girl, Our Blues) plays Saeng-gang, the court lady in tune with the spirit world. Cho Seung-woo (Divorce Attorney Shin, Sisyphus, Stranger) adds to the ensemble as the King who summons Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang to the East Palace, adding further weight and tension to the story.

The newly released poster teases the otherworld Gu-cheon must enter and the mystery waiting there. As Gu-cheon and Saeng-gang move between palace corridors and the borderland of the Realm of Gwi, they uncover what lies buried at the heart of the palace — and how the past is dangerously entangled. Their uneasy partnership, sharpened by secrets on both sides, drives a story that promises chills, tension and a steadily escalating mystery.

Latino Film Institute Fellows Screen Their Short Films at the Egyptian Theatre

On May 28, 2026, filmmakers from the Latino Film Institute’s (LFI) Inclusion and Spark Animation Fellowships screened their short films at the Egyptian Theatre as part of the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival (LALIFF). The LFI programs, supported by Netflix, provide production funds and mentorship to the fellows.

The two back-to-back screenings featured 10 live-action and five animated narrative short films across a variety of genres, including drama, thriller and dramedy. The Egyptian Theatre was filled with festival attendees, cast and crew of the films, and industry veterans such as actor and LFI Founder & Board Chairman, Edward James Olmos, offering a meaningful space for filmmakers to present their stories.

"Netflix's support of the LFI Inclusion Fellowship and LFI Spark Animation Fellowship is an investment in artists, storytellers, and creators whose perspectives deserve space to evolve and thrive. Opportunities like these don't just shape individual careers — they expand what's possible for every creator who comes after them," said Axel Caballero, CEO of Latino Film Institute.

"For LFI and Netflix to provide direct support and carve out viable pathways demonstrates a commitment to fresh talent and perspectives," said Angela M. Sánchez who directed Spin Cycle: The Change We Carry. "It says, 'We believe in you and your stories. We trust you to execute on them.'"

The evening concluded with a reception in the Egyptian Theatre courtyard where attendees had the opportunity to network and mingle with the filmmakers.

Netflix’s support of the LFI Inclusion and Spark Animation Fellowships reflects the company's ongoing efforts to invest in talent development and skills-building with the goal of nurturing the next generation of talent. These and other Netflix-supported programs provide emerging filmmakers with production funds, mentorship from Netflix executives, and opportunities to showcase their work.

Over the past five years, Netflix has organized more than 1,000 training programs and events with programs reaching over 90,000 people across more than 75 countries, helping everyone from aspiring students to seasoned professionals connect, learn new skills and advance their careers.

Made In New Mexico: Building ‘The Boroughs’ From the Ground Up

The new mystery-adventure series from executive producers The Duffer Brothers centers on a picturesque New Mexico retirement community of the same name. When a terrifying nighttime encounter reveals that something monstrous is stalking the manicured cul-de-sacs, a grieving newcomer is inspired to join a misfit crew of unlikely heroes who uncover a dark secret that proves their “golden years” are more dangerous, and they are more formidable, than anyone expects.

Given the series’ setting and our expansive Netflix Studios Albuquerque space, it was only natural that the series filmed in New Mexico. “We fought to shoot in New Mexico,” said co-creator and co-showrunner Jeffrey Addiss. “We wanted those big open skies. We wanted that sense of beauty and openness.”

But The Boroughs didn’t just pass through town — it settled in, building eight houses on the backlot of ABQ Studios. “The Boroughs doesn't exist, and we had to bring it to life,” said Addiss. “When you see Sam's cul-de-sac, we built that. When you go downtown and see The Boroughs and all those shops, we built that. You could go into those shops and turn on those coffee machines and they would work. What this production did and what our production designer did is a feat.”

As if that wasn’t enough work, production also transformed the nearby defunct Traditions Mall into a vibrant town square. “It really was like bringing back a dead mall,” said director of photography Matthew Jensen. “In the end, it was really beautiful and felt alive and felt like a real place.”

The Boroughs, which incorporated clean technology like batteries and solar to power set, shot at more than 20 other locations across the state, including Albuquerque Convention Center, First Plaza Galleria, the Expo New Mexico Fine Arts Gallery, the Old Ramada Inn, Twin Warriors Golf Club and Montessa Park.

During the 100-day shoot, production hired more than 350 cast and crew and worked with more than 300 local vendors. Several of these vendors, like native New Mexican Mark Steinig of Maleko Grip & Rigging, have worked on numerous Netflix New Mexico productions including American Primeval, The Harder They Fall, Ransom Canyon Seasons 1 and 2 and Rez Ball. “As a vendor, we wouldn’t have been able to stay in business and avoid bankruptcy if it were not for Netflix,” he said. “Netflix is keeping the New Mexico film dream alive.”

Behind the scenes, The Boroughs also helped the next generation of talent by hiring six participants across three different training programs. These included the Next Up IATSE Training Program (NUIT), which provides on-set production training in departments like locations, set dressing, special effects, and sound, the Next Up Post PA Program (PATH) which educates about the post-production process through classes and on-the-job training, and the Production Accounting Clerk (PAC) Program, where participants get to train as an accounting clerk on a studio production, in addition to receiving mentorship by a Netflix production finance executive, networking opportunities, and resume and interview preparation.

“I got an opportunity to be a clerk on The Boroughs, and I loved it; it was really interesting, and the experience was great. I was provided a mentor with the PAC program, so we would meet every two weeks to discuss any questions that I had. What an honor and privilege it has been to work for a great production,” said Diane Archuletta, who worked on the PAC Program.

Added Kiera Richard, who worked on the Next Up Post PA Program (PATH): “I think being on The Boroughs was a great experience. I had the time of my life. Everyone was very welcoming and organized. I was on from the beginning til the end of post so it was really amazing to see everything come together from the cuts, VFX renders, and sounds. I would 100% do it all over again.”

Fans are already flocking to The Boroughs since its May 21st debut, with the series landing at #2 on the Global Top 10 English TV List with 5.6M views in its first four days.
